Dragon Creek Farm, in Saluda, Virginia, is beginning commercial crop production this year. Jim Kavitz, the owner, will sell his produce at various farmers’ markets, including Williamsburg’s and Middlesex County’s. The farm has a variety of crops, 3 chicken breeds, two turkeys and a guinea fowl.
The birds help control pests and provide eggs, including turkey eggs. Jim’s neighbors help him take care of the chickens and he shares eggs with them for their help.

Dragon Creek Farm uses a drip irrigation system to water crops to conserve water. Not only is this sustainable, but also necessary because Dragon Creek can only draw a limited amount of water from their well.
